During the week of August 2-8, 2009, students from 6th grade through college will examine the ground-breaking leadership of two dynamic presidents at the Presidential Leadership: In the Footsteps of Presidents Obama and Lincoln program. During this once-in-a-lifetime event they will hear from compelling experts, learn to make change happen in their communities, participate in fun and active learning with like-minded peers, build lifelong leadership skills, and earn service hours and academic credit.
They will also strengthen their leadership skills through in-depth comparisons of the unprecedented paths of these two great leaders, during discussions with political experts and access to museums and historical sites. These special Student Leaders will hear from three presidential insiders:
- President Obama’s chief campaign manager and political strategist David Plouffe
- NBC News correspondent-at-large and radio talk show host Luke Russert
- Chief White House correspondent with U.S. News & World Report Ken Walsh
