To become a Leadership Ambassador, take the following steps:

1

Find the right program for you!

Are you interested in traveling to the home of leadership—Washington, D.C.? Or perhaps learning about medicine at Johns Hopkins University? Need some help? Our knowledgeable enrollment coordinators are available to assist you in identifying which leadership experience is right for you.

Call 888.275.5061 Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Pacific time.

2

Get nominated

Many of our students are nominated by their teachers, community leaders, People to People alumni or their parents. When nominating students, they look for the following characteristics:

  • Scholastic Merit—demonstrated aptitude for academic success
  • Leadership Potential—demonstrated by a student's ability to take initiative, express independent thinking and accomplish goals
  • Exemplary Citizenship—ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and to effect positive change

Nominated students receive a personal invitation from People to People Leadership Ambassador Programs and provide one additional letter of recommendation.

3

Apply

Students can apply for their preferred Leadership Summit or World Leadership Forum session by submitting their enrollment application included in the invitation or apply online. You DO NOT have to be nominated to apply. Interested students may apply to the program directly.

4

Get recommended

Whether you have been nominated or applied on your own, you are required to submit recommendations from your teachers—one if you were nominated and two if you applied directly. This requirement ensures each student is ready for the Leadership Summit and will positively contribute to your group's experience.

Once you've been accepted, your journey to becoming a Leadership Ambassador has just begun! Prior to travel you will prepare by completing course work specific to your Leadership Ambassador program. That's right: Your program isn't just a few days. This is an educational journey that begins the moment you apply.
